I would definitely complain, if nothing else that they tried to put a 2 year old child by herself.

As for the ID, I've had the security people refuse my passport and ask to see a driver's license. "You aren't traveling internationally. May I please see your driver's license?" Those are the same people who wouldnt let me use the Elite security line at LAX because I didnt have my card yet, even though the boarding pass is pretty clearly marked.
