pleasant experience

Yesterday I made a booking for MUC-xZRH-BOM vv on the LX site and as expected, I could not select seats during the booking, just the preference indicator between window and aisle was provided. I could add by LH M&M *S number, so that was good.

Reading this thread I braced myself to dare and call LX reservations for a seat assignment. Well trained by LH, I pulled up the seat maps in advance using expertflyer.com for my flights in 4 browser windows and called LX. Got connected to some call center outside europe (from the sound of the accent of the agent).

Me: '...I made a reservation online yesterday and would like to make a seat assignment...' <followed by the usual exchange of booking codes>
Agent: 'Sir, your seats are already assigned: 21A on both long hauls, 16 A aand 14A on the european flights. Would you like to change any seating?

It seems LX preassigned me the window seats available as front as possible automatically. I just asked for a change to my seat on the MUC-ZRH leg. Bulkhead 17K was available on the BOM-ZRH according to expertflyer, but I hesitated to ask for it.

Now, was this because I have status with LH, a freak occurence or is this normal? The fare I booked is the cheapest Q fare.
