UA's policy is not to charge YQ (Fuel surcharge) on award tickets. Sometimes the computer charges it anyway, but you could get it refunded by calling customer service. The problem is sometimes the partner airlines notice that YQ wasn't collected when checking in, then demand payment at the airport.
