Thanks for the reply, I was sort of hoping that the A330 would be in service on this route, as the skybeds are particularly nice for the overnight return flight. Regardless, I still would consider the J seats in B767 equivilent to J seats on JL 747's. I do however find Qantas service and catering far superior, hence the reason for choosing this flight over JL service from sydney.
If it does happen to be B767, any advice on best seats, I will be travelling alone, and would prefer to sit by myself on A side, however if there is a good chance I will get 2 seats to myself, I would prefer this.

Currently all MEL/NRT flights on Qantas metal (QF180/QF179) are scheduled to be 763's.
Generally on these you get the "
Dreamtime" seats. While these are not 'Skybeds' they are not too bad.
Personally, I would look for the single seates in "Column A"; they do have a small table/rest between the seat and the wall (about 120mm x 400mm) where you can put stuff.
