Anyone have experience comparing the value of accruing and spending QF versus VS miles?


I've been contemplating switching my Hilton Honors partner and Hertz partner from QF to VS given I'd be getting slightly more from Hertz (750 on QF versus 1000 on VS) and the reward charts seem to require fewer miles on VS.

I don't fly either airline on a regular basis, thus, no status on either one and I'll only use the points once I collect enough for personal trips (i.e., thinking maybe South Africa or India).

I have quite a few points amassed in QF already, but thinking that I could still use them next time I go to Australia for in-country routes, so I'm not too worried about losing them, but the bottom line is that I'm thinking that the miles are going to add up quicker on VS.

Anyone have experience or advice on this?
