I'm answering this thread because I have been in the Baltic for nearly three months. I am REALLY looking forward to going back to the states (even for just three days), so anything that gets my mind on packing is good.
The North Face (Mohawk) backpack contains the following:
passport
wallet (currently three currencies) - I don't like to sit on my wallet (Costanza)
ticket/boarding pass/itinerary
toothbrush
toothpaste
mouthwash (Listerine Cool Mint)
Dell Latitude D610
extra battery for same
Microsoft notebook optical mouse
Targus adapter to power my notebook (it does not charge, just powers?)
various pens (4-5 either blue or black)
Highlighter (green)
mechanical pencil (.5mm, full but not too full)
a few notepads (2-3, letter size)
condoms
6MB iPod - currently 900 songs and growing
Shure E3Cs
whatever magazines I have received but not read
whatever magazines/newspapers I pick up between my door and my seat
whatever NetFlix movies I have received but not watched
Crackberry - I guess nicknamed such b/c it is so addictive
alternate cell phone for destination (just add regional SIM)
all incentive program cards that I don't have memorized (you never know)
lip balm
camera - in the market for new camera very soon
a few business cards (Imigration, Customs, seatmate, FA, etc.)
business cards from others that need to go into Outlook
24hr. Fitness card (it's always in my backpack that doubles as gym bag)
workout log (small notepad with previous workouts)
bottled water(s) 1.5L, brand unimportant
That's about it.
