Well my father is bengali and I grew up in a bengali village and Calcutta, studied engineering in N. Mumbai and worked for a few years in Mumbai. I speak bombaiya hindi and some marathi besides the obvious bengali.

The guard was speaking in Hindi, but insisted I was not indian because I was not speaking hindi with my friends and had my european girlfriend with me. I guess chasing me was his entertainment of the week. Understandbly he needed some thrill from the daily ticket stub collecting and sitting around.
