I agree with some of the posters above. But really, where you exchange depends on how much money you want to exchange. I don't like carrying a lot of US dollars on me, so I prefer in order:

1) ATM
2) Airport bank exchange booths (BTW, you can also get coins/small changes here for phone calls/TAXIs/tips,etc.)
3) City exchange booths
