Not really SQ related but ...

I need help.

Flying SYD-SIN-LAX on SQ220 followed by SQ20. 3 days stopover in LAX, then I'm off to HSV.

After some ... 23 hours of flying in Raffles, what can I do to make my flight in the US as enjoyable considering I'm flying to the other side of the country? The whole LAX-HSV segment is going to take nearly as long as SYD-SIN.

I've been reading up the UA, US, AA, and DL forums but the general consensus is they're all crap and that I should just tough it out .. so I figured I'd ask fellow SQ'ers here .. what would you do?

My option at this point:

1. Burn what mileage I have left w/ DL + some USD160 or so and fly LAX/HSV free in coach with no restriction on the schedule.

2. Pay 300-400 on UA and hope there're enough E+ seats to accomodate a lowly Premier.

3. Pay 1k+ for a mix of first/business/coach round-trip.

4. Fly into EWR instead on SQ22/SQ21 and endure only a few hours' worth of crappy flights, but I haven't seen my friend in LAX for quite some time and a catch-up would be swell.

Thoughts?
