For some reason I try and dress "appropriately" when travelling in C or F. Even if upgrade was OK'd ages back. And I think it DEFINTELY helps when you are borderline as to whether lounge access is applicable.

We flew back from Darwin to SYD yesterday on Qantas in Biz (award) on a 767. Flight left at 2am, but that's Qantas for ya.

Darwin is super tropical - almost in Indonesia - like it was 100º. Not sure if being dressed 'businesslike' helped, but we both talked ourselves into Qantas Club. For anyone who sometimes thinks many RCC Matrons were trained by Goebbels, try talking your way into a QC when not entitled to be there. (A C BP is not an entry criteria either.)

(Footnote - iluv2fly and many other FT'ers were with us in May when a bunch of FT'ers were ORDERED out of the near empty Qantas Club in SYD by the QF airport manager flanked by 2 security guards, when perfectly entitled to be there. We were all sitting quietly in small groups and behaving ourselves.)

My bet is if we had been wearing Cancun type gear like most others we would not have got into Darwin club. So "dressing up" can sometimes pay off.
