If you are a newbie visitor to Thailand, the extra inconvenience/time wasting of going to banks/booths in the city and standing in line etc. is not worth it...just change your currency at the arrival hall bank booths at the airport (UNLESS you are changing significantly large amounts or staying more than just a few days in the city).
