I've traveled in Egypt - and there's a difference between a big city like Cairo and smaller places. In general - dress somewhat modestly in Cairo - and very modestly outside of Cairo. No shorts or bare arms or cleavage anywhere. Nothing too tight. Nothing above the knee or elbows outside of Cairo. You will have to take off your shoes when you visit mosques - so wearing or carrying some socks doesn't hurt. Robyn
