When I was in grad school in the early 80's, CO was offering $38RT fares from IAH-JAX. (no taxes except the 10% excise tax that was included in the $38) To sweeten the pot, they were giving triple miles! To a poor grad student, the $38 was a cheap trip & to get triple miles to boot for a non status flyer was even better!
