I had to book a one-way AUS-EFD (Ellington Field in SE Houston) the other day and CO.com provided 9 reasonable options from AUS-IAH-EFD for $102.00 that each lasted anywhere from 2-4 hours. They then listed the following for $674.50:

AUS - MSP 04:30 PM - 07:15 PM
MSP - LAS 09:13 PM - 10:35 PM
LAS - IAH 01:45 AM - 06:32 AM (next day)
IAH - EFD 01:15 PM - 01:43 PM (next day)

(MSP = Minneapolis, LAS = Las Vegas)

Hrmm...:

200 air miles vs. 3600 air miles
$102.00 vs. $674.50
2 hours total vs. 21 hours total
