I read this as saying that once you have taken your first sector, the ticket cannot be changed. When I have a need for flexibility it is almost always for the return leg only, and I will have started my journey by the time of change. I could be wrong of course.
So if a one way is just under £100, can't you just make a seperate booking for each sector? Wouldn't you then be able to make a change to the return (as you won't have started that journey)?
