I think Palm VII uses Palm's own subcontracted service which is different from Omnisky.

The Omnisky is a good deal (which is why I went for it) if you have a Palm V. Using the service, however, can be frustrating, because depending on locale, it can take many, many attempts to get an email download, but otherwise it works reasonably well.

The other negative vs. the Palm VII, is that to travel with the Palm V/Omnisky you need to carry two seperate charges, one for the Palm and one for the Omnisky. I already have to carry 3 other charges (laptop, laptop plane adapter, and cellphone), so that's a little frustrating.

The Palm VII uses AA batteries for the entire unit (modem and Palm, which is a major travel convenience).

I wouldn't change if my Palm didn't experience window recognition problems and so GE Appliance Insurance just sent me a $400 gift card to Circuit City to buy a replacement, in which case I would go with the Palm VII, except I hear the Blackberry is much better, so i am thinking of saving my CC gift card and splurging for the Blackberry?
