Have a look at www.iens.nl which is great for recommendations. It covers several Dutch cities and has many recommendations translated into English.

We like Pianeta Terra, Vijf, Lof and Bordewijk for entertaining though Lof can be packed and more informal so not good for some people. I've heard good recommendations about Christophe too.
