Not sure if this should be in Amex, Delta or Marriott?

Have the Skymiles gold card and current offer is double miles for all purchases through August.

I will be traveling to Florida and California in October this year. I typically stay at Marriotts when I travel. My local grocery store is selling Marriott gift cards in $50 and $100 increments.

To get the double miles, I was thinking of purchasing the Marriott gift cards now to use in October.

Seems like a good idea to me, but asking for input in case I am over looking something.
