Before you would decide to put all four in a room, you need to be certain to contact the hotel first. In many many hotels in Europe (and in my experience even more so in Italy) four to a room is simply not allowed or possible. The rooms are so typically set up differently than what we're used to here in the US. Compared to, say, a Hampton Inn room with 2 DBLs, a top end Italy hotel with 2 DBLs is often much smaller than what we're used to and -- call me crazy --- but, to me, the beds are not doubles, but true twins. Thus, getting four people in to one room could get nutty real fast.

I'd hate for you to attempt check in only to realize that what you'd planned was insufficient.
