The Eastern Airlines staff pulled a lot of stunts in the late 1980s before its bankruptcy. After the bankruptcy and new management arrived I felt that Eastern’s service during its last year was good. Ultimately Eastern went out of business. I have recently heard USAir passengers complain that the pilots are slowing things down, but when I checked the story out further it appeared to be more weather and system related. After 36 years of regularly flying my personal opinion is that we have a messed up air transportation system that cannot anticipate developing problems.
