None of the fares appear to be too special this year - perhaps I'm over-used to seeing uber-cheapies earlier in the year.

The UK (and US) Air New Zealand website seems to contract out their special fares to a kinda clunky outfit dressed as Air NZ - the current specials are at this site -- nothing under about £900 for the next few months...

Perhaps United was the one you were thinking of?
