You will arrive and depart from the International Terminal at YVR. If AS can give you a boarding pass for the flight to London, then you can just head straight through to the BA departure gate (via a quick security check). No immigration or baggage reclaim.
However, if AS cannot give you a boarding pass, then you have to clear Canada immigration, reclaim you bag, head upstairs to the check-in desk and through main security. There are no transit desks as such in the concourse used for US flights.
