Now I just have to wait for MCI-ANC FC reward tickets to open up for June...am sending my folks as an Xmas present.

You'll probably have better luck with an EUA on the EWR-IAH leg than you will using a mileage upgrade. Which equipment are you on for the EWR-IAH leg? If you're connecting to ANC, it sounds like you're on a morning or early afternoon flight which could be a 737, 752 or 762.
