Well there is a domino effect, especially if you are not toward the front. When one person reclines, the person behind does the same to ensure them-selves more space. Then this happens on back.
I can only suggest that you try an get the forward most seat available. If the upgrade clears early enough, maybe you could request something. Of course, I don't even know if that is possible cause this FO has little experience upgrading, and even less on upgrades given before the day of flight!
You must have a hug screen!!! Maybe putting a pellow on your lap and resting the computer on that would help bring the computer closer - you may be able to open the screen fully then.
