With DL and NW, this has not been an issue (as far as I know) as long as the frequent flyer number was entered correctly by DL, NW or any of their respective airline partners from the beginning. It's more of an issue with AA and UA -- even where the frequent flyer number is manually entered in by AAgents or UA reps. With AA or UA, the system may not credit such flights -- for flights on their own metal -- where the name on the ticket does not match the name on the frequent flyer account perfectly. In UA's case, Star Alliance partner airline flight credits in such situations have been issues.
