Just happened to me... To be honest, I think it's worse, because you have to tell the agent your Advanage number. I have no problems saying it into the automated system.
Also, this will tie up EXP agents. When someone calls and he is not EXP, the system kicks him to a non-EXP agent; this way, the system doesn't know the person calling isn't EXP and the call will get sent to an EXP agent.
As someone else mentioned though, AA has had system problems the past couple days. I've had 5 upgrade clear with no email - the reps said they're working on the issues.
