This is a little hard to follow.
I can understand the proposal to axe services from the regions to these various destinations (indeed, that has started
already). But surely it cannot extend to LGW. Nice, Pisa, Rome and Venice are, I should have thought, key routes. Nice and Rome will have a reasoable proportion of business traffic and they (together with Venice and Pisa) are quite likely to enjoy a healthy transfer business (particularly from the US). Last time I flew back from NCE to LGW the flight was oversold a week out.
CitiExpress is undoubtedly feeling the squeeze in the regions from Jet2 and others. Going low-frills would make sense in this competitive environment. Extending it to LGW, I would have thought, would be a disaster.
