I think you are thinking of the DC-10's. I don't recall any 747's back in 2000, but I do remember some DC-10 still flying (we all know that a CO DC-10 was believed by some to be the reason why the AF Concorde crashed in CDG.
Any 747's that CO had were gone long before that. But don't quote me, someone who has hard information can back that up.
