I firmly believe Heathrow "closeout" staff would do the same.
Unfortunately, whenever BA has any form of trouble, the press are only to keen to find other angles with which to discredit our poor, battered company!!!

Most flights full to the brim, this is why the other stranded people have to wait or rebook as there is just not enough space for them on exisiting flights.
I agree, we have been upgrading people and this report is probably on the 13th when BA was trying to get planes back into postion and calling people in a tent for a flight to spain would have caused a stampede even though it may not have been there original destination (it would have been the "just get me to spain" people) and would have caused chaos.
With regards to the upgrades, the brand has been damaged by the lack of catering so it is not necessarily true that planes have been going empty and that BA has NOT been upgrading. It doesnt matter to BA whether they upgrade in this suitation as a seat is a seat in this case.
I have been doing flights since the resumption and I have not seen an empty flight, well maybe a few seats free but this was due to no shows of originally booked passengers at the last minute and by then its took late to call people to the gate.
