This is the Sloppy Joe I grew up with which seemed to be a Northern New Jersey deli delicacy. We used to send out for them all of the time. Sort of like in the style of the Dagwood sandwich.

Town Hall Deli in South Orange, NJ was known for their sloppy joes. We never knew it was a ground meat sandwich. It was always the best sandwich (fit for 2-3 people) that the deli made.

Here are other delis which made them but Town Hall was the best.
