I need some 3rd party input on this "hypothetical" situation. A married couple and their single friend go on vacationl. They book a triple room. They are very good friends, very close, and would like to save some money. How should the room charge be split? Should it be divided by 3, which would mean the married couple pays 2/3 and the single friend 1/3, or should it be divided by 2? The latter option essentially says the married couple is one unit of consumption and should only pay for 1/2 of the room.

Your input would be greatly appreciated.
