I would definitely say Deerfield. GREAT location (a little north for you).
We used to drive up every other weekend in the 80's when my dad (IHH) was working on an assignment there.
It has been a long time, but they used to have the best breakfast!
It is straight up 94 to Lake Cook Road. Nordstrom Rack is right there when you get off Lake Cook.
You might consider looking into restaurants in Highland Park and Lake Forest.
If you want a great breakfast place ... Gocki's in Lake Bluff in front of the Treasure Island.
Great Pizza ... the Silo in Lake Bluff, across the street.
Great Irish Pub ... Mickey Finn's in Libertyville.
