I'm starting my foray into other carriers by booking on Midwest Airlines, flying out of BOS (headed to MKE, their hub). If my outbound flight is canceled, it will most likely be because the inbound didn't arrive the night before and I'll have plenty of notice.

If the return flight is canceled, there are later flights. And if all else fails, I'd much rather be stuck in Milwaukee than Detroit. As the other endpoint of my weekly commute, its a lot more like home to me than any of the other options.

PS. The 4 out of 5 delays/cancellations I mentioned were only the return trips. I also had 2 cancellations on the outbounds during the same period.
