I wouldnt try putting it in checked luggage. The CTX machines pack a lot more xray power than the checkpoints. TSA doesnt recommend anything that could be fried going in checked luggage. As far as class of laser is concerned, no one would know unless you are trying to get a class 4 argon ion into the sterile area. Only then would they question it due to its size.
