Yes, this was pretty exhausively covered in the previous thread, ozstamps. That must have been while you were away overseas or the such...

The merger of Australian Airlines Flight Deck and Qantas Frequent Flyer with their concurrent numbering systems meant that they tried to hold one of your numbers. They obviously did a data matching to see which number you could keep. I had 180xx in TN Flight Deck and it would have been nice to keep that, but QFF had other ideas. The join since, however, is the earliest of the two programs (in my case, so I presume for everybody else).

I've updated the previous thread, so perhaps discussion could continue there so as to make my job easier ....
