Just curious Gold Flyer, how long ago was your MR to CHC? I actually had the opposite experience, NZ was willing to let me stay airside in the departures/arrivals area rather than clearing in. but I elected to clear in so I could sit in the domestic lounge for a few hours before the Int. Lounge opened in the PM for my continuing flight to SYD?
For an hour, or even two, I think I would have found a bench somewhere and avoided the hassle of having my bags x-rayed for stray food?
