Has anyone done one of these recently and if so, what reaction did you get from the friendly US Customs and Immigration folks? I won't lie to them, rather would tell I am going to New York to fly to Toronto and saving buckets of money in the process. Before 9/11 I used to do this frequently (why I even went to MEX as a turnaround )

Thoughts?
I did the same thing in Feb. going to Beijing. When they asked why I was going to the US, I told them the truth. They laughed and sent me on my way.
