Duh - that makes perfect sense.
In the end, with regard to the first row...my guess is that inability to raise the armrest to accomodate disabled Customers was the decding factor in not adding armrest tray tables.
I'd agree - given preboarding & open seating, you see a ton of families and elderly/mobility limited passengers up there - even if the width wasn't an issue, you still might decide not to do it.
