There are a few passenger behaviour models available in terms of software but at the end of the day, the FAA have decided that a full scale test has to be done, to make it difficult for the other side to certify.

I do not think that the difficult bit will be the dry case, the wet ditching case will be far far more difficult to prove. Think of the size of swimming pool you would need for the slides and 400 top deck punters plummeting (sorry, sliding gracefully) into the pool (sorry, remaining on the slide at the end and not falling in).

Does the 744 card show the top deck slides being used for ditching? Interesting thought if it was sinking fairly rapidly. 744 CREW HELP HERE, can you manually disconnect the top deck slide from a remote pull position at the bottom? That is what Airbus are faced with, although I think that the pull force is under control. I wonder which way the 744 would actually sit if not supported by the ground (HKG). I am fairly certain that the 146 and RJ float the other way round from that shown in the exit card. I think LAN had a go at testing that one quite a few years ago.

Anyone for LHR to MAN to avoid overwater sectors?
