Into a pool of kerosene. Density 0.8. People density 0.9something. You start to sink in the kerosene layer... Not sure I need to go on, but the additional bouyance offered by the lifejacket might be critical.

Nice to know that the airport operators are required to carry enough liferafts for half the people on the aircraft.

Just a thought.

In terms of the bouyancy, is this why the safety cards show people holding hands in a circle in the water wearing their life jackets?
