If you want to read a really good, quality gay novel, read Gore Vidal's City and the Pillar. Gore wrote it in the 50s and was promptly blacklisted by the NY Times Book Review. It's the best novel that Gore ever wrote. It's the one time he allows himself to have genuine feeling for his characters.

There is also a new book out that is a collection of real-life stories about when people first knew they were gay, titled appropriately "When I Knew".

I highly recommend Amazon.com (I don't work for them) if anyone has difficulty getting certain books. The whole online ordering process is extremely painless.
