Rather than using collectors' items for bag tags

on any checked luggage (which sometimes, I hate to admit, I must use to lug my dive gear,) mine are very useful sturdy vinyl tags in bright yellow that hold an itinerary inside - sans my home address, of course - a copy is on top of everything I have packed inside the luggage, in a ZipLoc bag: the
Magellan's Retriever Tag . The tag indicates in eight languages there is an itinerary inside, and it must be unfastened for anyone to retrieve it. This tag makes it easier to identify your bag, or to have it sent on to your next stopover destination.
(Be discrete with what information you put on your itinerary, of course; it's for getting your bag forwarded to you, not tell a thief's accomplice where your vacant home is.)
