Dont pay attention to others who havent been there.

We went to Capri in mid-March ( a less busy period, I admit) and enjoyed it immensely the place is beautiful and well wothing going to. I would suggest you stay overnight when all the day-trippers leave and then the place is a stark contrast to the days very quiet and peaceful.
In any event once you get out of the main squares there were very little in terms of crowds.
The finucular was closed for repairs but for the same fare they had litlle buses shuttling vistors up the hill.
