I use to just buy the 4 pack of 5 mile certificates - my cost benifit analysis always said it was worth it - however since the comp upgrades on Y,B fares all I purchase is B and get the comp upgrade just about everytime.

The one time I didn't I bought the B fare just to get the upgrade - 1K on a 3 cabin 747 IAD-LAX and I didn't make the upgrade list. I was shocked!
