As American Airlines is Fort Worth's largest corporate employer, I'm very sure that Fort Worth has done a lot for American Airlines in the past, and rightly so.
Now, though, AA is threatening to move significant operations away from DFW as they also try to intimidate small towns across America by telling them they may lose some/all service.
Is this the way AA is planning on repaying Fort Worth's favors? By shifting half their flights to to the evil, backstabbing, lyin' cheatin' greedy Dallas and doubling the amount of damage done to DFW since Delta's dehubbing? (An airport which is nearly 2/3 funded by
Dallas taxpayers, btw?)
Dallas taxpayers who want to make sure their investment in DFW isn't jeopardized by a greatly expanded Love Field and are attempting to do so by sticking with the Love Field Master Plan or even further reducing the number of gates from 32 to 26..
And AA wants to do this after both cities have just commited to 2.7 billion dollars worth of improvements that primarily benefit them and which were partly built to their specifications right down to the color scheme in Terminal D?
And this after AA signed a letter of agreement to move all operations to DFW once it opened? An agreement that Southwest (and Continental Express for that matter) did not sign?
All to compete with a low fare carrier that caters to the
working class ? (eewwww) An airline that can't fly me everywhere from Sydney Australia to Saginaw, Michigan, and doesn't even have assigned seats??!! And NO First Class? What are you kidding me? Those ungrateful @&^#%$'s! How could they treat their corporate host city that way? Who do think they are, Tammy Wynette?
"
Because you're good girl's gonna go bAAd.
We're gonna throw the biggest screamin' hissy fit we've ever had.
If you like bein'
b****-slapped --
pushed around--
Than you oughta be glad.
'Cause your good girl's gonna go bAAd."
Of course if Fort Worth Dallas and DFW had any smarts (and any guts to stand up to AA) they could slap AA with a little lawsuit of their own. After all, AA
did sign that letter of agreement back in the late '60s to move all it's operations to DFW, whereas Southwest did not. Surely not every single lawyer in the Metroplex is beholden to AA.
Get tough and give AA a taste of their own medicine.
Then Fort Worth, in it's best Loretta Lynn voice. could sing to AA (And Dallas)
(Here comes the hymm)
click here, wait for the music to load and let's ALL sing along:
(Intro)
(to AA)
You think you're gonna leave us.
Well we don't think that's so-
We've invested lots of cash in you
And we ain't gonna let you go.
You say you're goin' to Dallas -
Oh, but we don't think you can.
There ain't no Love big enough
To take our mAAn.
Airlines like you - they're a dime a dozen
Fort Worth can play hardball, too.
You think you're gonna move
Half your fleet to Love Field
Well baby, we've got news for you.
It'll be over our dead bodies,
Hire those lawyers while you can.
'Cause there ain't no Love strong enough
To take our mAAn.
(to Dallas now - with hands on hips)
Sometimes AA shoots off their mouth
'Cause they love to raise a fuss.
But they took a second look at you
Then said they're still in LUV with us.
Well we don't know where that leaves you,
But we sure know where we stand
Love Field just ain't big enough
To handle our mAAn.
(Back to singin' to AA)
AA get your act together!
Quit spreadin' such doubt and fear.
We're sick & tired of puttin' up
With all of your crap
And let's make one d@mn thing clear.
You'll leave us over our dead bodies
So you'd best have another plan.
We'll say it again -- (Love Field)
Can't handle our mAAn
No, Dallas ain't woman enough
To take our m - A - A - n.
Of course, in the end, after a knock-down, drag-out, purse-slinging, wig snatching, eye-gouging, fight, both Dallas and Fort Worth will probably be singing D-I-V-O-R-C-E
Amen.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread already in progress
