But think for a moment the onus put on airlines by the new rule because, as per the article, pax can be denied boarding if they haven't given the information. Are pax entitled to a refund if denied because of this reason? Remember this isn't U.S. Customs denying the pax, it's essentially the airlines. Will airlines be liable if they permit a pax to fly without having provided the info?
My guess is it will be much the same as if the passenger tries to check in without a passport. I assume the airline (a) doesn't owe compensation, (b) is liable if they didn't obtain the info.
If this can be provided in advance, I don't see how it will increase checkin time by up to two hours though.
