Nine times out of ten, the only reason someone other than the F/As is passing out the peanuts is because the flight is short and an extra pair of hands frees up the crew to perform a full beverage service just a little faster. Considering that on short flights on most others carriers the F/A's serve exactly nothing, let alone a full service. Under those circumstances, I would hardly classify letting a helper pass out the peanuts as laziness.
