Thanks for the correction on the Hindu meal; I'm confusing it with some other airlines (ie CX) which do actually alllow poultry or fish on the Hindu meal but not on the Indian veg.
I have to majorly disagree with you guys on the quality of the IVML meal. It can be good but it can also be awful (particularly out of Chicago) i've flown ORD-NRT/KIX and ORD-HKG like 40 times and its sometimes ok, but often just awful (and there's nothing Indian about it). It is also IDENTICAL to the meal in coach in almost all respects and the presentation is often terrible-- for those of you who know South Indian food and know what I'm talking about, the fools poured mint and tamarind chutney on top of rava kesari (a sweet) which was served for my second meal once ORD-HKG. In fact, I think it is often better in coach because I find it usually overcooked in Business class.
Finally, the one thing I forgot to note is that it is usually the same three dishes out of most stations (a shahi paneer type thing, aloo palak or spinach and potatoes, and some dahl). This is fine the first time, but on an east coast-Asia itinerary, you'll get the same thing fed to you three or four times, which is not ok. The only two stations that vary it up a little are HKG and LHR.
Actually if anyone has a contact in catering, I would pay to be able to talk to them about this. I've told 1K voice about my special meal issues but they're not doing much about it.
