First time in 3 days I have been able to check internet. Riots on and off all over town. Some point facts:

Many cars burned out
Downtown businesses still closed
around 85 dead so far in Khartoum
Revenge violence is happening
Pretty safe for Hawaja (foreigners as long as low profile is kept)
My own business looted (completely emptied)
Businessman next door killed trying top protect his property
Infrastructure still ok
Private businesses hit hard in some areas (South Khartoum and Haj Yousif area).
Military on streets
6PM - 6 AM Curfew in effect
Airport still open - only some flights detoured due to violence
Mornings are fine and lull used to stock up on supplies
I am hoping that tomorrow Friday will bring calm back to Khartoum

Most riots caused by young thugs roaming the streets looking for revenge during a time when the police were busy doing something else womewhere else. I do sense a lowering of hostilities on the streets but most people are still scared to go to work or cannot go to work due to roadblocks and bridge closures.

For the most part, I expect calm to return by Saturday.

Another week in Sunny Sudan.
Cheers, David.

P.S. Yes - some Japanese order would go down well around about now.
