I had exactly the same thoughts and tried one in Y on a trip LHR - AKL. Either the person who made it had never made one before or the best is reserved for C + F but this was literally just tomato juice and vodka. I seem to remember I even had to ask for Worcester sauce. Worth a try though, as you may be surprised.
